OAK SHAKES FOR GARDEN ROOM

Oak shakes, a traditional building material, can produce a modern look and be highly ecological.
Victorian garden structure inspired this oak shake clad extension. Side glazing retains privacy from the neighbour but creates views from and through the new space and retains daylight to neighbouring rooms. A thin wrapping of radiant insulation keeps the room warm without shrinking the tight space created and the timber suspended floor construction and timber frame minimise the use of concrete products.
